Betty White has the secret to longevity: Make ‘em laugh. The “Golden Girls” icon, who will turn 100 on Jan. 17, has shared her expert advice on living a long life and it seems comedy is key. “I try to avoid anything green,” she jokingly told People of her diet plan. “I think it’s working.” Ahead of her milestone birthday, White also told the outlet that her days recently have been spent with crossword puzzles, card games, animal documentaries, “Jeopardy!” and sports. “I’m so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age,” the “Hot in Cleveland” star added. “It’s amazing.” White also credited being “born a cockeyed optimist” as her secret to longevity, noting she “got it from [her] mom.” “I always find the positive,” she said. see also Her positivity is exactly what her celebrity pals think has blessed the beloved star with a long and fruitful life. Having over 120 acting credits to her name, White is a showbiz whiz who knows just how to crack a joke. “She’d come on my show, [‘The Carol Burnett Show’], and if there was a tinge of risqué humor in one of our sketches, she’d roll with it and make it even funnier and add a little wink to show that she was thinking of something sexy,” legendary entertainer Carol Burnett, 88, told People. “She’s not a stand-up. She’s not a jokester. It’s the way she can twist a line to get a laugh.” Her big screen pal Sandra Bullock — who co-starred with White in 2009’s “The Proposal” — also chimed in for the tribute. “Timing isn’t easy in comedy, because you have to navigate other people’s timing. Event producers Zack Hudson and Brad Balof have announced that the event will feature appearances by “guest stars, producers, and others directly connected with the show,” although no names have yet been announced and ticket prices have yet to be determined. “We’re creating a space where fans can celebrate all the things they love about the show; friendships, laughter, families of choice, Scandinavian nitwits, sexy Southern belles, stern substitute teachers and Sicilians,” Hudson told Edge Media Network. This leaves one burning question: Will the golden guest of honor be there? When The Post asked White’s reps if she plans on attending the inaugural Golden-Con, her spokesman Jeff Witjas said: “No she is not. At 99 and about to be 100 [on Jan. 17], Betty no longer travels by air.”
