Meghan McCain boycotting 2022 Beijing Olympics: ‘Genocide Games’

Meghan McCain won’t be watching the Winter Olympics this year in Beijing. The former “The View” cohost, 37, slammed the games on Friday, the same day the sports ceremony kicked off their opening day, tweeting her thoughts about the city’s alleged human rights violations. “There is no reason to watch a Winter Olympics that is holding up and spreading propaganda for a regime that is committing actual genocide and ethnic cleansing,” she claimed. “On top of poisoning the world and killing 6 million people. Absolute shame on the international community for this.” On Instagram, the Daily Mail columnist also made her feelings known to her followers. She shared a piece of artwork by Chinese artist badiucao, saying: “I will not watch one minute of the @Beijing2022#GenocideGames.” The art showed a hockey player with blood on their face shield beating a man with his playing stick. Countries such as Australia, Canada, Japan and the United Kingdom also refused to send reps to attend the Olympics. “The Biden administration will not send any diplomatic or official representation to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games given the PRC’s ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity in Xinjiang, and other human rights abuses,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said at the time, using the acronym for the People’s Republic of China. She added that while “the athletes on Team USA have our full support, we’ll be behind them 100 percent as we cheer them on from home, we will not be contributing to the fanfare of the games.” NBC also refused to broadcast an ad that criticized China during the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. The 30-second ad was bought by Florida GOP Rep. Mike Waltz and slammed the event as the “Genocide Games.” The congressman also called out major US companies for participating. “This is the equivalent of holding the Olympics in Germany in the 1940s or Rwanda during their atrocities,” Waltz told The Post on Feb. 5. “It is beyond the pale that the [International Olympic Committee] didn’t move the games.” The spot highlighted companies for their working relationships with China, including places such as Visa, Coca-Cola, Nike, Intel and Procter & Gamble.
