SEO specialists found a vulnerability in domain authority spoofing

While not directly improving website visibility in Google, tampering with the indicator itself does have an impact on domain authority parameters.

To begin with, Domain Authority (DA) is one of the most commonly used metrics in the SEO industry for analyzing website reputation. This metric became especially relevant after Google engineers abandoned the PageRank metric in 2016.

The DA score ranges widely from 1 to 100, with a higher score predicting a greater chance of being at the top of search results.

Several factors are taken into account when calculating the DA score. These factors include the total number of links and linking root domains. The score is used to compare different websites or track the “ranking” of a particular website over time.

How does it work?

There are sets of URLs that redirect the user to your domain. What is surprising is that most of them are Google links. For the experiment, taken groups of links from Google search, Google maps, and Google image search. /

According to experts, such links affect DA, Page Authority (PA) and Citation Flow are affected. SEMRush authority ranking also shows an improved authority score. However, Majestic’s Trust Flow and Ahrefs’ Domain Rank do not take these links into account when calculating their metrics.
